About
Software written by people who run events.
Event Stacks came out of fifteen years running one of Japan's largest outdoor festivals. Every feature exists because a real event needed it.
It started as our own tooling
Since 2010 our team has run Belgian Beer Weekend in Japan — a multi-city outdoor festival with hundreds of beers, dozens of vendor stands, cash at every bar and a crew of hundreds. For years we ran it the way many events are run: spreadsheets, email attachments, and someone matching paper records after the event ended.
We built software to stop doing that. Then other organisers asked whether they could use it. Event Base and the six Stacks are what that became — not a platform designed in the abstract, but the tools of a working festival, tested and improved until they could run other people's events too.
They have been running other people's events ever since — among them the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan, whose annual business summit in Tokyo takes over a thousand registrations through the same desk it checks them in at, and imec, the nanoelectronics research institute, which runs one conference format across the USA, Europe and Asia. Different sizes, different continents, the same system underneath.
What that means for the product
Built from real failures
Every feature traces to something that caused a real problem during a live event. That is a narrower brief than "event management", and a better one.
We name the edge cases
Offline has a limit, Vendor Stack figures are indicative, timecards cannot be edited from the web. An operator trusts a vendor who says so up front.
Both languages, natively
Not an English product with Japanese bolted on. The whole product, the portal, the docs and this site are written in both.
Support from operators
The people who answer have stood at a gate at 9am with a queue building.
